Child seat
The new rules of the Highway Code require the use of special car seats approved for children under 3 years of age and a seatbelt for those between 3 and 12 years old.
Children between the ages of 12 to 16 are required to wear a seatbelt plus a booster seat and the children that are 16 years old may travel only with a fastened seatbelt.
Also, the new regulations in the legislation say that is is forbidden to transport children under 12 years old in the front seats.
The child seats can be mounted on both front right seat and rear seat(s) of the car, but it seems that the rear seat offers more safety. If a (child) seat is fixed with its back to the right-front seat, then the airbag must be deactivated and the seat placed as far as possible (away from the dashboard) to minimize the risk of injury in the event of a frontal car accident.
